You need a Google account to use the Part 9 Bracing Calculator.
If you don’t have one — or if you’d prefer to operate in a separate or sandboxed environment — you can create a free account here.
Scroll to the bottom of this page and click the download button.
This will open a new tab in your browser.
Click the blue “Make a Copy” button.
The calculator will be added to your personal Google Drive.
The first time you launch the calculator, Google may show a warning about “unverified” permissions.
This is normal for tools that use Google Apps Script but haven’t gone through Google’s full app verification process.
To proceed:
Click “Advanced”
Then click “Go to Part 9 Bracing Calculator (unsafe)”
Click “Allow” to authorize the tool to run in your Google Drive
Note about permissions and external services:
The calculator includes scripts that power its user interface — such as navigation buttons, print filters, sheet visibility controls, and automated calculations. These features are designed to streamline workflow and enhance usability.
No personal data is collected or sent by the calculator or its scripts.
All scripts run entirely within your personal copy of the file and are fully viewable under Extensions > Apps Script.
The START HERE sheet includes an optional version check that reads a public file to help you stay up to date. This check is one-way and does not transmit any data from your sheet.
The (A-2) C-2 & C-3 Generator sheet offers optional tools that access external services — including OpenStreetMap/Nominatim, Google Maps, and the NRC Seismic Hazard Tool — when you use geolocation or hazard lookup features. These external services may collect usage data in accordance with their own privacy policies.
If you prefer to work without any scripts, you a non-scripted version of the calculator is available. This version does not include interactive features but still provides the same core data and code references in a static format. Please email for details.
5. You can now use the calculator from your own Google account.
The file is yours — no data is shared with the developer.
